Description: Advisory is a course that every student is required to take all four years of high school and is a crucial tool in ensuring all students have equal access to key information and services.
7 to 7
Description: MLA's 7 to 7 program extends the school day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and beyond, offering a wealth of onsite classes, programs and services. Students and families have the opportunity to take a variety of traditional and nontraditional courses such as CAHSEE prep, college access, music production, animation, design, healthy cooking and more.
Career Mentoring Initiative
Description: The Career Mentoring Initiative is a career education program that inspires students to think about the world beyond high school. Students gain exposure to private/public sectors, for-profit/nonprofit sectors, and a variety of careers through relevant workshops and hands-on experience. A key element of the Career Mentoring Initiative is creating unique partnerships between corporate leaders and public school students and teachers, offering access to life changing opportunities.
Go For College Initiative
Description: The Go For College Initiative was launched with the belief that whether or not college is for everyone, the choice to go certainly should be. A range of programs expose students to essential college information, such as college visits and school based workshops. In addition, the annual Go For College event provides a full day of activities including interactive workshops and a college fair with representatives from some of the most prestigious universities throughout the nation.
